DAILY CONFESSION OF SINS

For the benefit of our readers who are versed in Slavonic or Russian, we offer a translation into Russian of the daily confession of sins, part of the evening prayers. Because of the difficulty of understanding some Slavonic expressions, a great deal of translations have appeared over the years, some more, others less explicit or easily understandable. The version offered herein represents a reasonable and practical interpretation of this mandatory prayer before retiring. In order to always be prepared to stand judgment before the Lord, the daily confessional compunction of our sins is indeed an obligatory responsibility of every Christian, not only in the pronunciation of the words contained in the prayer, but in the full understanding of the exact nature of the transgressions, committed during the course of the departing day. We hope that the enclosed translation into common Russian will help bring the terminology of the prayer closer to the intellect and the heart of the penitent.
